History of The Center for Family Health
|
- In order to bring down the very high infant mortality rate in Jackson County, the Community Action Agency forms the Center for Healthy Beginnings to offer prenatal, maternal and infant support services at 817 W. High Street
|
- A Family Practice provider is added expanding services into Primary Care.
- To reflect this expanded range of services, the name of the clinic is changed to the Center for Family Health.

- The Center becomes an affiliate of Cascades Health System (now Allegiance Health) and merges with TLC Pediatrics, a Foote Hospital Clinic at 720 W. Franklin Street.

- The Center expands Pediatric services and adds Internal Medicine providers.
- Pediatrics and Internal Medicine move into suites in the Foote Health Center building at 1100 E. Michigan Ave.

- The Center is granted the initial designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-a-like (FQHC Look-a-like).
- With this new designation, The Center is no longer an affiliate of Cascades Health. We become an independant organization with no outside control.

- For the first time, The Center provides more than 30,000 visits in one calendar year.

- The Center begins using the Health Department's Mobile Unit to provide health services at the Interfaith Shelter at 414 S. Blackstone Street. Soon after, permanent clinic space is provided inside the shelter.
- The Center is granted the final designation as a Federally funded Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

- Dental services are introduced through at merger with the Jackson Area Dental Clinic. The services are expanded to include adults as well as children.
- Our Board of Directors is expanded from nine to eleven seats to represent the dental community.
- The Center for Family Health celebrates 10 years of health care to the underserved population of Jackson County.
- The Center passes a milestone by serving more than 10,000 patients in one calendar year.

- Pediatrics temporarily moves to 724 W. Franklin early in the year.
- In late Autumn Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and OB/Gyn all move to one site at 2200 Springport Road.
- For the first time,The Center provides more than 60,000 visits in one calendar year.

- Administrative offices, except billing, moves from High Street to a suite located at 2298 Springport Road.
- The number of employees at the Center tops 100 full time employees.

- A van is purchased to provide rides for our patients.
- Late in the year, The Interfaith Clinic moves around the corner to 308 W. Franklin Street.

- The Center opens its long planned School Based Health Center (SBHC), a first for Jackson County. The Northeast Health Center is located in the Northeast Elementary School at 1024 Fleming Ave.
- A full-time therapist is hired to expand our services to include Behavioral Health Care.
- Billing moves to offices at 2282 & 2298 Springport Road.
- The Women's Health Center opens in the lower level at 2200 Springport Road.
- The Center passes a milestone by serving more then 20,000 patients in one calendar year.
- For the first time, The Center provides more than 90,000 visits in one calendar year.
