Together, We make a difference...
Anne found herself alone with two small children, pregnant and living at the Interfaith Shelter after leaving a long-term abusive relationship. When the staff at the shelter referred her to the Center for Family Health she was surprised to learn that not only could she receive the prenatal care she needed, but additional help such as transportation to her appointments and baby supplies (including a free crib).
The Maternal Infant Health Program provided in-home and clinic-based education and support throughout her pregnancy. Through coordination with other community resources Anne also found housing, enrolled her two older children in Head Start, received low-cost car seats and her children had their first dental check-ups!
Anne delivered a healthy full-term baby and feels blessed having these services available that are helping her build a new future for her family. She is now working part-time and taking classes to become to Certified Nursing Assistant.
