Allan Padbury, Jr., DDS, MS joined the Center for Family Health Board of Directors in January of 2008. Dr. Padbury, a lifelong resident of Jackson, is proud to serve CFH and bring a community perspective to the board. CFH has always had a dentist on the Board and this seat had previously been filled by Dr. Tom Pink. When Dr. Pink's term ended, Dr. Padbury eagerly stepped in.

Dr. Padbury has been participating and donating services through the Donated Dental Services program here in Jackson. He sees the dental needs of our community first hand and is concerned about the lack of access to dental care for people who are uninsured. Serving on the CFH board allows Dr. Padbury to be part of the solution.

"It's a nice way to give back to the community," shares Dr. Padbury. "It's also very important to bring knowledge from our profession. So many new studies are proving that oral health is a window into the body." "We know that periodontal disease puts people at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes complications and even respiratory disease. It's important that there is recognition between oral and systemic health."

Even though Dr. Padbury has been aware of the Center for Family Health for quite some time, there were still surprises waiting for him when he joined the board. "I was amazed to find out just how many people the Center serves and how many community members are involved." "I was also impressed with the composition of the Board, the diversity and the number of Board members who are patients at CFH," shares Dr. Padbury. "Molly Kaser (the Executive Director) is an impressive leader."

"I'm very excited about the mobile dental program that CFH is starting. Screening and dental education is so important and we know that many children in our community just aren't getting that." "It's nice to know the Center for Family Health is an option for all people."

Dr. Padbury's mission as a Board member is to keep the Center for Family Health financially solvent so CFH continues to address the medical needs of this community and access to care issues. "The quality, professionalism and educational background of Jackson's medical and dental providers is very high and I'm proud to work here."

Dr. Padbury received his Bachelors Degree from Albion, and both his Dental Degree and his Masters Degree of Periodontics from the University of Michigan. He is board certified from the American Board of Periodontics. He is also a delegate for the Michigan Dental Association and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. He teaches undergraduates at the University of Michigan in the Dental Clinic and graduates in the periodontics clinic. He also serves on the committee that writes the exam for Michigan Periodontal Specialty. Dr. Padbury graduated from Lumen Christi, class of '83 and is a member of the Queen's Mens Club. His wife of fifteen years, Catherine, is also a graduate of Lumen Christi ('85). They have two sons, Will, 8, a 2nd grader at Queens and Nathan, 3.
