Why would a family choose to use a School-based Health Center?
- Prevention- A SBHC treats minor illnesses early and prevents them from becoming major health issues.
- Access to Care- Children have access to a doctor without parents losing wages to take their children to see a doctor.
- Cost Effective- Children with access to a SBHC are more likely to recieve preventive screening and treatment and are less likely to use emergency rooms for basic health needs.
- Serving the Uninsured- Many families in the Jackson area do not have health insurance or can not afford to pay high copays and deductibles.
Who is eligible for SBHC services?
All Jackson County residents up to the age of 21 years old are eligible for these services.
- The Teen Center at Parkside provides medical care for adolescents between the ages of 11 and 21 years old.
- The Northeast Health Center provides medical care and dental care from newborns to youth, up to 21 years old.
