Central Michigan 2-1-1 is a free referral service that directs people in nine counties where to turn for help with a problem or provides information and human-services issues.
Jackson County residents can access this free help by calling 2-1-1 on a landline. If using a pay phone or cell phone, dial 866-561-2500. A trained referral specialist will answer this free call 24/7, 365 days a year.
Information also is available by searching on the Central Michigan 211 website, www.centralmichigan211.org.
In 2014, Central Michigan 2-1-1 received 17,309 calls from Jackson County residents with questions ranging from the location of food pantries to where to find affordable health care. The Center for Family Health is the answer to the latter.
In addition, community members performed 1.732 searches on the 2-1-1 website.
