Dr. Rose Johnson named Chief Medical Officer at CFH

News Release July 6, 2018

JACKSON, MI – Dr. Rose Johnson, a family-medicine physician at the Center for Family Health since 2002, has been named to the Center's top medical position. Dr. Johnson was appointed Chief Medical Officer, replacing Dr. Sharon Rouse as supervisor of all medical operations.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Johnson as our new Chief Medical Officer,” said Molly Kaser, CEO of the Center for Family Health. “She and Dr. Rouse have worked together on leadership issues for several years, so this is a natural progression.

“Dr. Johnson is continually looking for ways to improve care for our patients; she always steps forward to try new tactics. Dr. Rouse has done an excellent job as chief medical officer and we’re very glad she’ll continue in her role as a pediatrician and in medical education leadership.”

Dr. Johnson is an internal medicine specialist for adults who is board certified in internal medicine. Prior to her appointment as Chief Medical Officer, she was Lead Physician at the Center for Family Health. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kerala Medical College in Trivandrum, India. Her residency was at St. Barnabas Hospital in NewJersey.

“I have enjoyed working with the Executive Team in my previous role as Lead Physician and hope to work closely with the team to maintain the high level of care we give patients and to make it even better,” Dr. Johnson said. “I also look forward to working with the wonderful providers here at the Center to maintain and improve relationships in our work family,” she said.

Dr. Rouse said she enjoyed working with staff and patients as Chief Medical Officer, but she requested to step back from administrative duties to concentrate more on treating patients and on her role as program director for Transitional Year Interns at Henry Ford Allegiance Health.

“I loved helping to plan the direction of the Center and how we could better serve our patients in the future,” said Dr. Rouse. “However, I am originally a teacher and found more fulfillment working and teaching young doctors.”
